"Short Circuit" is a science fiction comedy film released in 1986 by TriStar Pictures, a subsidiary of Columbia Pictures. The NOVA arms company developed five military robots, and one of them, 'No. 5,' was struck by lightning one day, which led it to gain self-awareness and refer to itself as 'Johnny 5.' It escaped to the streets, where it was perceived as a significant threat by humans, while the remaining four robots were sent to hunt it down. It had to find a way to convince the scientist who created it that 'it is a form of life, not a military robot.' During a short circuit incident, it entered the home of Stephanie, an enthusiastic animal rights advocate, and through interactions with humans, it learned the wisdom of human nature, eventually rejecting the idea of returning to the weapon company to serve as their killing machine.
