19 years later, Dr. Indiana Jones (played by Harrison Ford) sets off again, aiming to return the lost crystal skull of the Kingdom of Ekto to its rightful place - legend has it that the returner of the sacred object will be granted immense power. Everything was just a legend until Jones's old friend Ox discovered the crystal skull, but Ox then inexplicably lost his mind and fell into the hands of a Soviet spy team. The cold-hearted female spy Irina (played by Cate Blanchett) is deeply fascinated by the so-called mysterious power, and she forces Jones and his team to accompany her to the Amazon basin to search for the lost city of gold, the Kingdom of Ekto.
