The childhood sweethearts who unexpectedly reunite when they grow up, Yui Saka (played by Mao Inoue) and Naoki Toriyano (played by Takeru Satoh), become convinced that they are destined for each other. However, just as they decide to propose to each other, Naoki becomes embroiled in an unbelievable incident and disappears. Unaware that he has died, Naoki becomes a soul wandering the mortal realm. The only person who can recognize his existence is the detective Masaru Uozumi (played by Kenichi Matsuyama), whom Naoki asks to convey his words to Yui. Inoue portrays Yui, the protagonist who suddenly loses her loved one.
