In the bustling city of Guangping, humans and monsters coexist. The monsters are skilled at hiding their traces and disguising themselves as humans, unbeknownst to people. The rich young lady Banxia (played by Song Zuer) has a pair of strange eyes that can often see those illusory shadows. Because of this ability, no matter how well-behaved and sensible she is, she is still called a "madwoman" behind her back. Banxia uncovers the secret that her sister-in-law is a monster, which leads to pursuers after her, and she then meets the monster catcher Xuan Ye (played by Ren Jialun). A gentle kiss from Xuan Ye on Banxia's eyes allows her to fully see the world where humans and monsters coexist. Together, they investigate several bizarre incidents in Guangping City, such as the rejuvenation of the jade pear, the nine-lived cat exchanging lives, and the daily cycle of the "Guangping Spring Dawn" painting, leading to their growing closeness. However, the secret that Xuan Ye carries repeatedly pushes Banxia away as he gradually realizes that even though he is a monster catcher, he might very well be a monster himself...
