The film is adapted from the first part of Sergey Lukyanenko's trilogy, "Night Watch." The forces of Light and Darkness have signed a truce agreement that lasts a thousand years. A thousand years later, the leaders of the two armies, Geser (played by Vladimir Menshov) and Zabulon (played by Valeri Zolotukhin), live in present-day Moscow. The Night Watch tracks the dark alien forces to maintain the balance between good and evil, while the Day Watch monitors the activities of the forces of Light. If the balance between good and evil is disrupted, it can lead to war, revolution, destruction, or even global catastrophe. The rookie Night Watchman Anton Gorodetsky (played by Konstantin Khabenskiy) is tasked with monitoring the vampire Kostya (played by Aleksey Chadov). A boy named Egor appears, possessing the power to upset the balance between the Light and Dark factions; whoever controls him will achieve ultimate victory. Thus begins a war between man and demon over ultimate power, and the world starts to crumble... Will Egor walk towards the Light or descend into Darkness?
