 Synopsis
In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, the court issued an edict prohibiting the practice of martial arts among the people. The abbot of Shaolin Temple, fully aware that this was a result of the Qing court trying to eliminate the martial arts birthplace of Shaolin Temple, anticipated that the temple would eventually face great calamity. He decided to recruit and cultivate secular disciples to spread the Shaolin secret arts among the populace, hoping to create a situation where 'wild grass cannot be completely burnt.' News spread quickly, and many impassioned young men yearning to learn martial arts responded, among them Fang Shiyu (Fu Sheng), Hu Huigan (Chi Guanjun), and Hong Xiguan (Wei Hong), who were particularly sincere in their desire to learn. They eventually entered the gates of Shaolin Temple, accompanied by Hu De Di (Jiang David) and Cai De Zhong (Di Long), other righteous warriors against the Qing. Although the group gathered for a noble cause, each had their own hidden agendas and gradually fell into different factions. Ultimately, Fang Shiyu and Hu De Di, who became part of the righteous side, resolved their personal vendettas with Shaolin's secret arts but soon realized that the Qing soldiers had launched a surprise attack on Shaolin Temple, prompting them to resolve to fight to the death for the temple.
