Light (played by Jason Statham) is a nonconformist, stubborn former New York police officer. One day, he sees a group of armed gang members surrounding a 12-year-old Chinese girl named Mei (played by Catherine Chan) at a subway station. His sense of justice ignites, and he steps in to educate the gang while protecting the little girl. Soon, members of the Hong Kong triad, Russian thugs, hired killers from politicians, and corrupt cops begin to come after them one after another. Left with no choice, Light takes Mei on the run across New York City. It turns out that Mei has a photographic memory, and she has written down a series of numbers that, when decrypted, reveal a password. Knowing the circumstances, Light decides to help Mei through this crisis. But what kind of battle awaits them?
