The story takes place in a super company called Lumon, where a new technology known as memory severance is being experimented with internally. Employees who undergo the procedure will experience a personality split, creating a corporate personality and a daily personality. This bold experiment to 'balance work and life' is met with skepticism. Employee Mark finds himself at the center of a mystery, forcing him to confront the nature of work and self. In the second season, Mark and his friends learn about the terrifying consequences of severing memories, leading them down a more painful path.
