This drama is inspired by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's "A Fool's Love" and tells a revenge story spanning 20 years. It all began with a meeting during their youth when a new neighbor moved in next to Mayuko. She quickly became friends with the cheerful and open Hirari, who was of a similar age. However, the introverted Mayuko always found important things being taken away by the vibrant Hirari, including her cherished necklace and the person most important to her. As adults, the greedy Hirari (played by Saki Takao) once again takes away someone important to Mayuko (played by Miho Nakayama) - her first love, Ryoichi (played by Seiichi Tanabe). Hirari becomes pregnant with Ryoichi's child, and the two marry due to the pregnancy. The moment their son Naoki is born, he becomes an instrument of Mayuko's revenge, and a 20-year-long revenge saga officially begins.
