Behaviorist and criminologist Laijila returned to a sparsely populated community in Sweden. She has mixed feelings about this place: as a little girl, she was taken hostage by an unidentified criminal somewhere in this small town. But this is also the place where she ultimately settled, accompanied by retired former officer Walter. Shortly after Laijila's return, a girl goes missing. As Walter and Laijila delve deeper into the investigation of the disappearance, she is also forced to confront her dark past — a part of her life she has long been unwilling to discuss. As time goes on, it becomes clear that the entire village is burdened by secrets. Will history repeat itself?
