The Umbrella Corporation, which conducts research on biological and chemical weapons for the military, has a massive research center located underground in Raccoon City known as the Hive. Due to an accidental leak of an air-borne biological weapon, the central computer system responsible for the Hive's security, known as the Red Queen, activated emergency protocols, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of staff members. Four hours later, Alice (played by Milla Jovovich), a security personnel, wakes up at the Hive's exit and suffers from amnesia caused by the anesthesia gas. A special forces team is sent to shut down the Red Queen and teams up with Alice, a self-proclaimed police officer named Anderson, and Hive employee Spence to venture deeper underground. The group faces a series of attacks from the security system and zombies due to conflicts between their mission objectives and the Red Queen. As Alice gradually regains her memory, it reveals a unique connection between her and her companions. How can this biological zombie crisis be resolved? Or is it merely a dismal prelude?
