The ongoing war between the Autobots and Decepticons has brought tremendous harm to Earth. In response, various countries on Earth have united to form a reaction force aimed at exterminating all Transformers, regardless of whether they are good or evil. Cade Yeager (played by Mark Wahlberg), an Earthling who is close to Optimus Prime, defies the opposition from those around him and the pressure from the government to provide shelter for Bumblebee and other Autobots. During this time, he inadvertently acquires a badge, thus bringing the crisis upon himself. The missing Optimus Prime drifts back to Cybertron, where he is captured and corrupted by Quintessa, the creator of the Transformers, who commands him to return to Earth to find the powerful staff, destroy Earth, and revive Cybertron.
