In a small town in the American Midwest, doll maker Samuel Mullins (played by Anthony LaPaglia) and his wife Esther Mullins (played by Miranda Otto) live a happy and carefree life with their daughter Annabelle (played by Samara Lee). However, a sudden car accident takes Annabelle's life, plunging the Mullins family into darkness. Twelve years later, an old bus arrives with Sister Charlotte (played by Stephanie Sigman) and her adopted children, making the Mullins' home a temporary refuge as a new orphanage. At this point, Samuel wears a gloomy expression; he shows the children around the house but strictly forbids the girls from entering Annabelle's room. Driven by curiosity, Linda and Janice disobey Samuel's instructions, thereby opening the door to horror...
