Lucien is an ambitious young poet from France in the 19th century. He leaves his hometown and bids farewell to his family who lives by printing to go to Paris and try his luck. In this colorful city, Lucien realizes he has entered a world full of lies, where everything is driven by interests. In Balzac's Human Comedy, politics, emotions, fame, and souls... everything can be bought and sold, and every journalist becomes a great writer.
