Uncharted Waters

The live-action movie "Uncharted" starring Tom Holland is still in development. Recently, Neil Druckmann, the creative director of the project and the developer of the namesake game, shared some thoughts in an interview. It has been previously decided that the film will be directed by Shawn Levy (known for "Real Steel" and "Night at the Museum"), who chose not to adapt the four existing games but to tell the origin story of the main character Nathan Drake. This approach has the support of Druckmann, who believes that creating a new story is much more interesting than simply translating the original games to the big screen."We have had some conversations with Shawn Levy, and he is very passionate and understands our situation. Levy wants to tell a story that is different from the four adventure games, focusing on a younger Nathan Drake, and I think that's much more interesting than trying to retell the stories of 'Uncharted 1/2/3/4.'"Druckmann also briefly discussed the planned live-action movie of "The Last of Us," noting that he has distanced himself from the project and realized that he is not particularly enthusiastic about movies that are directly adapted from games, which was the nature of his original script.
