 Synopsis
The story revolves around He Yuling (played by Charlene Choi), who works at a magazine and spent four months to complete a report on a government-business scandal. However, she has her work pulled by the boss for the sake of the magazine's interests. Disheartened, she decides to take a break in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where she encounters a young prostitute named Dok-My. Seeing her situation deeply affects Yuling, and she is determined to rescue Dok-My from a dire situation. It turns out that Dok-My reminds Yuling of her own past experience from over a decade ago when she ran away from home after being sexually abused by her stepfather, which led her to meet the much older Gan Haoxian (played by Rene Liu), a man thirty years her senior. They engage in an unethical arrangement that lasts eight years; she is willing to be kept in exchange for a degree and a place to stay. Their relationship is complex, resembling that of a father-daughter dynamic yet also blurred with romantic undertones.
