The film is a prequel to the 2008 movie "Death Race." In the post-industrial age, various large private city prisons were built, among which the most notorious is the "Death Island" prison. Karl, known as the "Cop Killer" (played by Luke Goss), is sent here to serve a life sentence. During the reign of warden Jones (played by Lauren Cohan), who is determined to make a name for herself in television, the government hands over the operation rights of the prison to the Blue Company. In the eyes of Blue, the cells are still profitable within the new era's commercial operation system. These prisoners are seen as perfect candidates for a real-life deadly sports competition, and broadcasting their brutal fights is sure to be a hit. The competition meticulously designed by Blue is called "Death Race." Karl becomes a racer, fighting for freedom by risking his life against many prison personnel, unaware that he is walking down a legendary path.
