In early 2259, Captain John Sheridan took over from Sinclair as the military commander of the space station. He and the command personnel learned that the death of President Santiago was actually an assassination orchestrated by Vice President Clark (who succeeded Santiago as president). A conflict erupted between the Babylon 5 command personnel and the Psi Corps. The Psi Corps is an increasingly authoritarian organization responsible for overseeing and controlling the lives of human telepaths. The space station's deputy commander, Commander Ivanova, is actually a potential telepath, but she has been illegally evading registration with the Psi Corps.
