This show is a surprisingly hilarious little comedy that burst onto the scene in the second half of 2008. Originally, the creator wanted to make a TV series but couldn't find live actors or animators to help him draw. So he explored on his own, using animation software to create a short film, which he then took to a festival. To his surprise, HBO picked it up, leading to it being adapted for television, becoming HBO's latest comedic masterpiece after Flight of the Conchords. The series revolves around the work life of the protagonist, TIM, depicting the various awkward situations he finds himself in, such as being teased by colleagues, tortured by his girlfriend, and pulled into antics by friends. Each 25-minute episode is animated and while it may not have laugh-out-loud moments, it consistently keeps viewers in a state of wanting to laugh yet holding back. Although the visuals are simple, even rudimentary, the brilliant and witty dialogue more than compensates for the visual shortcomings, infusing life into the otherwise plain animation. Notably, the voice actors have clear articulation, proper pronunciation, and while they speak quickly, they use simple vocabulary, making it a rare and excellent resource for learning spoken language. However, it should be noted that this is an adult animation, so some jokes are a bit risqué; do not expect it to be in the PG or G-rated category.
