Flowers in the Attic 1987

This is a super dark and terrifying movie. A woman elopes with her uncle, leaving behind her wealthy family to form her own, and they have five children, living a life of poverty. One day, she is suddenly informed that her husband has died in an accident, and reluctantly, she takes her five children back to her maternal home. Upon returning, she endures whipping from her biological mother and locks the children in the attic, telling them that she will come to fetch them soon. The children can only stay in the attic, eating cold, harsh meals sent by their grandmother. As time goes by, their mother comes less frequently, dresses better, and becomes more indifferent, seemingly resembling their grandmother. In contrast, the children are in rags and starve. They begin to sense something is wrong, and their health deteriorates, with the youngest brother even dying from illness. Thus, they quietly escape, only to discover their mother with another man, planning to marry, and view the children as obstacles to be eliminated. The children are left without support. On the day of their mother's wedding banquet, they escape and publicly expose her true nature, while eating pastries from the banquet because they are hungry.
