On an ordinary night, John's (played by Scott Adkins) home is invaded by several masked men. He is ruthlessly beaten, bloodied and in unbearable pain, and then watches as his wife and lovely daughter are shot in front of him by the criminals. After being in a coma for several months, John wakes up, clearly remembering the face of the gang leader who had removed his mask to reveal himself. From the FBI agent in charge of the case, he learns that the man's name is Luke Deveraux (played by Jean-Claude Van Damme), who was once a powerful soldier. John cannot fathom why this tragedy has befallen him, and upon returning home, the beautiful memories of the past come flooding back, causing him immense pain. Throughout this ordeal, Luke haunts John like a ghost, constantly disturbing his nerves. As John tries to seek the truth, he discovers that what seemed like undeniable memories may also be false.
