Peter Parker (played by Tobey Maguire) is just an ordinary high school student in America. One day, after being bitten by a genetically modified spider that escaped from a spider museum, Peter's life changes drastically. He becomes like a spider, gaining various unique superpowers: from shooting strong webbing from his fingers to being able to climb walls. Peter is overjoyed and starts using his superpowers to make money. However, when his beloved uncle is killed by a criminal he let go, Peter vows to use his superpowers to fight crime.Peter's friend Harry's father, Norman (played by Willem Dafoe), is the owner of a biotechnology company. He is troubled because the flying machines produced by his company are not appreciated by the military leaders. In an accident, Norman inhales a nerve gas and gains superpowers, which brings out his evil nature, causing him to ride his own flying machine to wreak havoc and kill. Peter, as Spider-Man, begins to fight back!
