This four-part television series is adapted from C.J. Sansom's internationally renowned Tudor murder mystery novels, set in 16th-century England during the dissolution of the monasteries. The story will tell of Matthew Shardlake, a lawyer with a keen sense of justice, and one of the few honest people in this world filled with intrigue and conspiracy. Shardlake works for Thomas Cromwell, who is Henry VIII's dangerous and capable right-hand man. Despite Shardlake's loyalty to Cromwell and the crown, he is not well-regarded in society due to his appearance.
