Yame Tōge

At the beginning of the War of Resistance, in a place in Northeast China, primary school teacher Leng Yun (played by Zhang Kaili) refuses to be a puppet under the Manchukuo regime and resolutely parts ways with her husband, who collaborates with the enemy, to join the Anti-Japanese Allied Army. Veteran Wang Pifu (played by Jiang Hualin) sacrifices himself to protect Leng Yun and her daughter Wang Huimin (played by Cai Ying) during their escape. Leng Yun and Wang Huimin witness the brutality of the Japanese invaders in Wuhe Village and join the ranks of the Anti-Japanese Allied Army along with several sisters who share similar experiences. On the mountains, Leng Yun teaches the sisters to read and write, shares revolutionary principles with them, and establishes a secret campsite in the old forest. Despite the extreme harsh conditions, they make cotton clothes for their comrades at the front and take care of the wounded sent from the front lines. Squad leader Hu Xiuzhi (played by Wang Lanying), who has gone through much hardship and is resilient by nature, shares the organizational and management tasks of the campsite with Leng Yun. As the Japanese army intensifies their siege, in order to cover the main forces' retreat, the eight women walk into the raging river after firing their last shot...
