 Synopsis
"The Iron Evidence Case 2: The Door to Reality" is a remake of the popular American drama of the same name. The first season aired on WOWOW in 2016, depicting the story of the investigation team led by female detective Yuki Ishikawa (played by Yoshi Yoshida) as they pursue unresolved cases and gradually uncover the truth. The original cast reunites for the second season, featuring a luxurious guest star lineup and large-scale production. The unique sense of time and heavy case themes in Japan have attracted much attention. One day, a skeleton was excavated in the basement of a university, and Kanagawa Prefectural Police’s Criminal Investigation Division detectives Yuki Ishikawa (Yoshi Yoshida) and Nobu Takagi (Ayato Nagayama) arrived at the scene to meet with Tohru Kaneko (Kensuke Kouseki) and Daisuke Tachikawa (Kenichi Takito), who arrived earlier. Through a student ID found on the body, the victim was confirmed to be Seiji Hashimoto (Kaito Yoshimura), who went missing after being involved in the violent conflicts during the Yokosuka Incident in 1971. Shortly afterward, a woman claiming to be Hashimoto's daughter, named Emi (Kaoru Okunuki), came to the investigation team. Emi stated that Hashimoto and her mother were radicals during their student days. Emi and her mother received money every year from someone suspected to be Hashimoto, and the acting chief, Hidetoshi Honmuki (Tomokazu Miura), and the investigation team members unanimously believed that this person was still hiding somewhere. They then noticed that the envelope containing the money had a foreign postmark. Since the foreign stay exceeded 30 years, there could be a case where the statute of limitations for the missing person does not apply, thus an investigation was initiated.
