During the Qing Dynasty, patriots in Guangzhou actively contacted Zheng Chenggong in Taiwan to drive out foreign invaders. General Duan and others, in an effort to rescue anti-Qing comrades, were successively suppressed by General Tian Da in Guangzhou. He Laoshi's student Liu Yude (played by Liu Jiahui), due to his active participation against the Qing, had his whole family killed by Tian Da's minion Tang San. Liu Yude escaped alone and, after enduring many hardships, arrived at the Shaolin Temple, hoping to learn Shaolin Kung Fu to help the suffering people and avenge his family. At that time, the Shaolin Temple had thirty-five halls, with thirty-four focusing on physical training or weaponry. Liu Yude, whose dharma name was San De, was exceptionally talented and, after five years of hard study, mastered the thirty-four halls. Upon completing his training, Liu Yude proposed to the abbot to establish the thirty-sixth hall to accept lay disciples and spread the teachings of Shaolin martial arts. After seven years away from home, Liu Yude returned to Guangzhou and took in young disciples like Hong Xiguan and Lu Acai, engaging in fierce battles with the Qing's minions. This film won the Best Action Effects Award at the 1978 Asian Film Festival.
