Little Dorrit is a work adapted by the BBC from Dickens' novel of the same name. Amy Dorrit (played by Claire Foy) is the daughter of William Dorrit (played by Tom Courtenay), who, after failing in business, causes the family to accumulate massive debts, leading to their imprisonment in a debtor's prison. Born and raised in the debtor's prison, Amy, despite her humble beginnings and hardships, has a kind heart and never hesitates to help those around her, nor does she feel ashamed of her poverty. At the age of 21, she secretly takes a job as a maid in the house of the Pearsons, where she meets Arthur, the only son of the Pearson family (played by Matthew Macfadyen). With Arthur's help, the Dorrit family unexpectedly inherits a fortune due to their last name and is released from prison, becoming part of high society. Everything around them suddenly changes as a result. After all the twists and turns, will Amy and Arthur eventually be together?
