During a reconnaissance mission on the planet Nibiru, Captain Kirk (played by Chris Pine) of the Enterprise took a reckless action to rescue Spock (played by Zachary Quinto), which nearly put the lives of the entire crew at risk, and he paid the price for it. Soon after, Kirk was reinstated, while a terror attack in London occurred, resulting in over forty deaths. The orchestrator of the incident, John Harrison (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), was from within the Federation. He subsequently attacked a high-level meeting, resulting in the unfortunate death of General Pike, whom Kirk respected deeply. To thwart Harrison's escape plot, Kirk set out to pursue him once again. Throughout this crisis-laden journey, the trust between him, the crew, and his friends was severely tested. When they finally located Harrison, they discovered his true identity and the conspiracy behind the London attack.
