In a calm seaside city, the silent and lonely girl Kayo Tomishima (played by Mihoko Ichikawa) is a senior student at the local girls' high school. Due to her personality, she is isolated by her classmates and immerses herself daily in feelings of emptiness and solitude, unsure of where her future lies. Perhaps because of their similar circumstances, classmate Asami Endo (played by Manami Konishi) catches Kayo's attention. Asami took a year off from school during her second year; she appears to be above the world, neither embraced by those around her nor concerned with others' opinions. Out of curiosity, Kayo gradually enters Asami's world. Asami wholeheartedly welcomes this lonely friend, and her love for art, music, and the azure sea opens a door to imagination for Kayo. The friendship between the two pure girls deepens, and each occupies an important place in the other's heart... This film is adapted from the manga of the same name by Kiriko Nananan and won the Best Actress Silver Saint George at the 2002 Moscow International Film Festival (Mihoko Ichikawa).
