The five-episode mini-series "Taste of Fate" tells a tragic love story between a young chef and a hungry ghost. This series is also the first to revolve around the Ghost Festival, blending the plot of the Ghost Festival from Southeast Asian cultures with the Singaporean gang scene of the 1970s, incorporating elements of romance, drama, and fantasy. According to ancient Chinese beliefs, lost souls and wandering ghosts return to the human realm during the Ghost Festival (the seventh month of the lunar calendar) when the gates to the underworld are opened, to enjoy offerings from the living. People offer food, drinks, money, and various forms of entertainment to appease these spirits.
