The play is adapted from the novel "Home, Bitter Home" by South Korean author Shim Yun-rye. The plot tells the story of Ji Yeong-hee (played by Lee Se-young), who was born and raised in a family running a rural inn called Motel California. Due to certain circumstances, she decides to leave her hometown, abandoning her family and first love, Cheon Yeon-soo (played by Ryu Jin-woo). Twelve years later, she is compelled to return to her old home and reunites with her first love in this romantic hometown love story.
