In the autumn of 1941, the Japanese invaders brutally implemented the 'Three Alls Policy' to establish a 'strategic corridor' between Northeast China and North China, forcibly consolidating the mountain communities into 'human circles.' Bao Zhen, the deputy commander of the 8th Route Army's Jidong Military Region, led the development of the Jidong anti-Japanese base in the Pan Mountain region and allied with the bandit Ma Tietui to further expand the anti-Japanese forces. However, during an operation, Ma accidentally killed a father and son, and Bao, in great sorrow, expelled Ma. Japanese Colonel Kato clashed with Bao Zhen multiple times, but was unsuccessful each time, yet he greatly admired Bao's character. In a battle, Bao unfortunately lost his life, and Kato paid tribute to Bao's tombstone by laying a wreath.
