As a Jewish member of the Nazi concentration camp 'special squad', Saul (played by Géza Röhrig) is a prisoner forced to handle corpses. One day, during a routine cleanup of the gas chamber victims, he discovers the body of his 'son'. From that moment on, he changes his life of mere survival and makes the boldest decision of his life — to risk everything to reclaim his 'son’s' body and find a Jewish priest to give him a proper burial.
