 Synopsis
Ray Ferrier (played by Tom Cruise) is divorced, and his son and daughter live with their mother—because of his playful laziness and neglect of responsibilities, the family has fallen apart. However, an alien invasion disaster allows them to rebuild their close relationship. One day, when his ex-wife is busy, she leaves the kids in Ray's care. With lightning and thunder darkening the sky, everything seems a bit unusual. Sure enough, a huge tripod flying machine suddenly rises from the ground on the road, and evil Martians have invaded this once peaceful town. People flee in all directions, and Ray, too, runs for his life with his daughter, embarking on a deadly adventure. The authorities try every means to deal with the aliens but repeatedly fail, plunging the entire world into panic. With the instinct of a father, this usually carefree dad becomes brave and strong, and protecting his children becomes the driving force and belief that sustains him.
