The comic author Yang Chunchun (played by 应采儿) from Taipei often encounters misfortunes in love, and her work is seeing a decline in sales. Her father wants her to accompany him back to the mainland to see the Great Wall, but she refuses. Unexpectedly, her father dies from an acute illness while traveling alone to Jiayuguan. On his deathbed, he entrusts Chunchun with finding his first love, Xiuqian, whom he met many years ago in the mainland. Chunchun suspects that her father was married in the mainland and did something to hurt her mother, so she decides to return home to investigate. At this time, a private detective named Fang Mingdi (played by 佟大为) whom her father met on the train, is commissioned by her mother to guide Chunchun. The two have a mismatch in character and clash verbally upon meeting, yet due to circumstances, they have to travel together. At Chunchun's father’s old home under Yanmen Pass, they learn that Xiuqian has married far away in Yinchuan. They continue their journey to search for her father's past love, while a new romance begins to unfold between them...
