 Synopsis
The story takes place in the early twentieth century, when warlords in China were in chaos and the people suffered greatly, with the vast country in ruins. Xu Jiyuan (played by Pu Baijia) is a member of the Illuminati. He buys the position of the police academy principal with a large sum of money to conceal his identity as an assassin. Once the dust settles, he begins to target the cunning and corrupt official, Otto (played by Wu Weidong), and his capable subordinate, Ye Dewen (played by Du Yiheng). The sly Otto has already sensed the lurking danger around him and starts to set up a preemptive 'counter-assassination.' The astute Xu Jiyuan boldly steps in, evading one deadly trap after another, engaging in a cat-and-mouse game with Otto. During the assassination process, Xu Jiyuan unexpectedly encounters two beautiful confidants: the dramatic socialite Chen Zilian (played by Wang Zizi) and the daughter of his enemy, Otto's daughter, Jiaqi (played by He Dujuan). This sets off a poignant and heartfelt story of love and heroism...
