The story takes place in 1969 in the San Fernando Valley, telling the tale of the Chambers family pursuing a noble yet seemingly impossible dream. Hampton Chambers (played by O'Hare) finds that the long-awaited family reunion does not go as planned after his release from prison. During his time in prison, Hampton's wife Astoria (played by Misiek) and their sons Einstein (played by Ellison) and Harrison (played by Diallo-Winston) formed an unconventional family unit, and Hampton's return throws their world into chaos.
