A young man who has just been released from a psychiatric hospital can easily be mistaken for a murderer. This tragedy almost makes it impossible to hate the ending of the film, in which Inspector Peter is killed mistakenly; it's a fatal misunderstanding. No character should bear the curse and hatred of the audience (perhaps it should have been Peter's mother). It is the societal norms that lead everyone to believe that insanity and mental illness should make someone a suspect of violent murder. No one argues; those who are mentally unstable cannot argue, and occasionally, someone may weakly attempt to argue - just like this almost unknown film.
