 Synopsis
The waitress Amiao at the tavern 'Jade House' (played by Junko Miyashita) is a beautiful and gentle girl. One night, she encounters a man who is destined to change her life — Haru Ito (played by Hatsuo Yamaguchi). Ito is a sensual folklorist with an in-depth study of the elaborate ancient punishments. He once had his wives reenact these punishments and took photos of them. Amiao is drawn into Ito's bizarre world and becomes immersed in it. This seemingly fragile woman possesses incredible endurance, willing to endure all sorts of tortures to surpass Ito's ex-wife. Ito seems to have found a true soulmate, but this harmony does not last long as Amiao exhibits increasingly strange behavior. After diagnosis, she is found to have congenital paralysis, in other words, syphilis. It turns out her mother (played by Sumiko Nanjo) was once a prostitute, and Amiao tragically inherited this fate, leaving her with a short life ahead...
