 Synopsis
Following the ending of the TV series "The Departed", Liang Xiaotang (played by Xie Tianhua) is convicted of murdering Su Xingbai (played by Huang Zongze) and sentenced to life in prison. In prison, Liang Xiaotang meets university professor Huo Tianren (played by Wu Zhenyu), who has a scholarly appearance and is non-confrontational, yet he can ensnare ruthless criminals like "Juchuan" (played by Lin Xue) using psychological traps. In reality, the professor is a high-IQ criminal psychologist skilled in cold reading, able to perceive the psychological activities and secrets of others, silently controlling them. A mysterious woman (played by Wen Yongshan) visits Liang Xiaotang in prison; she belongs to a security bureau that operates at a higher level than the police. It turns out that Liang Xiaotang's imprisonment is part of an undercover operation. The day Su Xingbai was killed, there were other parties involved, and the deputy director of the security bureau (played by Mai Changqing) suspects the incident is connected to a corrupt police gang hidden within the police force, thus leveraging Liang Xiaotang's imprisonment to investigate. Liang Xiaotang actively approaches his target in prison, former drug investigation section chief "Da Qie" (played by Dou Wenze) to make progress, but then discovers that the professor is also using psychological therapy to cause "Da Qie" severe psychological disturbances, up to the point of issuing death threats to him. A deadly confrontation blurring the lines between friend and foe, justice and evil, is about to unfold.
