Matt and Julia's relationship was not good. They ran a successful advertising company, but Matt suspected his wife was having an affair, a belief he held strongly, even going so far as to ask his colleague Trevor Jones to follow her. Trevor wanted to become a partner in the company, so he complied with the request. When he brought Matt the photos of Julia talking to another man, Matt went wild and wanted to kill Julia. After the news of Julia's death spread, Matt felt regret and committed suicide.
