This conspiracy sci-fi thriller is set against the backdrop of the post-World War II era and is loosely based on the real-life Blue Book project of the U.S. government. The U.S. Air Force tasks Captain Michael Quinn and Dr. Allen Hynek with investigating UFO reports and uncovering the truth, or at least providing plausible explanations for them. Quinn is a seasoned and tough soldier who, at first, is indifferent to anything beyond the task assigned to him, while the more skeptical Hynek quickly becomes convinced that some kind of deadly conspiracy is brewing. Meanwhile, as paranoia from the Cold War spreads among the public, a charming blonde woman with her own agenda befriends Hynek's lonely wife.
