When the great thief Zhang Peter (Andy Lau) learns that he has only four weeks to live, he decides to take revenge on the gang leader (Li Zixiong) who killed his father. To achieve this, he carefully plans to rob the finance company next to the gang leader's transportation company, taking hostages to attract the attention of the high-level negotiator He Shangsheng (Louis Koo), who has been reassigned to a desk job due to offending his superiors. During their cat-and-mouse chase, although He Shangsheng repeatedly fails, he gradually learns that the gang leader is actually using the transportation company for illegal jewelry smuggling.
