The story takes place in a kingdom called Wushuang. The new king unexpectedly swaps souls with a female beggar while out, and they are forced to return to the palace together. This causes an uproar in both the royal court and the harem, as the king's body is female. Numerous amusing farces occur in the palace. While constantly searching for a way to switch back, they live each other's lives in each other's bodies. Through various experiences, they gradually discover changes in their outlooks on life and values; the male lead alters his view of women, while the female lead changes her perspective on people from noble backgrounds. Together, they cleverly collaborate to govern the kingdom, and during this process, they develop inexplicable feelings for each other. Eventually, they uncover the mastermind behind their situation and manage to switch back to their original bodies.
