On an ordinary night in 2015, the electronic screens on the streets and the large screens on building exteriors in Taiwan suddenly displayed the purple word "explosion". This was the "purple explosion" that had been widely discussed on online forums — a phenomenon that occurs when over 90% of forum users concentrate on a single board. The police intervened and initially determined that it was a commercial crime involving a reporter named Lan Yiqing (played by Guo Xuefu) and a well-known hacker known as King (played by Chen Bolin). However, Lan Yiqing told the police that everything stemmed from a hacking battle on BBS — Taiwan's largest online forum.
