 Synopsis
The film tells the story of the decline and disappearance of a steel family during the prevalence of Nazis in Germany in 1933. A family is full of hatred and murderous intent. The old supervisor was killed. Then, in order to seize this property, various family members fought to the death... The film is a magnificent epic that uses a family to see through a nation.Viscondy is the most mature and magnificent work. The director borrowed a dark era background to describe the intrigue, conspiracy, murder, hypocrisy and cunning, and power struggle among family members. He also used a lot of space to describe the indulgence of the Nazi brown-shirt party members, as well as the contradictions and massacres between the Black-shirt party and the Brown-shirt party. The content also involves moral tragedies such as mother-son incest and father-killing.Viscondy elevated the cruel fact that power and desires caused human nature to sink, destroy and alienate to the height of Greek tragedy, and implied that fascism's desire to dominate the world was the fundamental reason for its inhumanity. The actors' performances are excellent, especially Bogard's perfect performance is amazing.
