The 1988 Olympics had just passed, and the Korean people were celebrating the honor their country had achieved. However, shocking news created panic throughout society: a convict, Chi Eung-hyuk (played by Lee Sung-jae), who was serving a long sentence, escaped along with other inmates. These fugitives armed themselves with guns, raiding homes and taking hostages. As the people of Seoul felt terrified, they also found the appearance of the criminals quite strange; they did not look like typical hardened criminals, but rather were very polite, exuding a sense of wealth, warmth, and compassion. On the 9th day of their escape, the fugitives hid in a residential house. They were later discovered by the police, and Chi Eung-hyuk, along with his companions, engaged in a life-and-death struggle with the police.
