The film's story continues from the previous installment. Lucius (played by Paul Mescal) witnessed his idol, the revered hero Maximus, die at the hands of his uncle during his childhood. Many years later, as an adult, he is forced to enter the arena to fight for survival under the tyrant's iron-fisted rule. Filled with rage, Lucius sees the future of the Roman Empire hanging by a thread and is determined to reclaim the power and honor that rightfully belong to him, restoring a glorious Rome to its people.
