Once a popular action star known for his zombie films, Qian Xiaohai (played by Qian Xiaohai) has seen his career and life hit rock bottom. He moves into a dilapidated old apartment with his meager belongings. Guided by the security guard Uncle Yan (played by Luo Haipeng), he enters the fabled haunted unit 2442. Xiaohai attempts to hang himself, but at the last moment, he is haunted by vengeful spirits, only to be saved by the reclusive Taoist priest Ayou (played by Chen You). Xiaohai becomes curious about the white-haired boy Xiaobai and a woman named Yang Feng (played by Hui Yinghong) who often lurks at the entrance of unit 2442, consuming offerings. He learns from Uncle Yan about a bloody incident that occurred years ago. Uncle Dong (played by Wu Yaohan) accidentally falls to his death, and Aunt Mei (played by Bao Qijing) seeks help from Ajiu (played by Zhong Fa), who practices dark arts, to restore Dong's soul, but this leads to an irreversible tragedy.
