If you had known in advance the life you were going to face, would you still have the courage to come? Wu Linglan, Shen Guangyao, Wang Minjia, Chen Peng, and Zhang Guoguo are a few young people full of aspirations, moving forward in four extraordinary timelines. Wu Linglan (played by Chen Chusheng) started out full of ambition, but soon lost his direction along the way. Shen Guangyao (played by Wang Leehom) voluntarily participated in the most brutal war, always striving to do those things that terrified him but were important. Wang Minjia (played by Zhang Ziyi)'s initial mistake was just a small lie told out of vanity; her initial worry was merely the choice between two outstanding men. But fate dragged her into an abyss condemned by everyone. Chen Peng (played by Huang Xiaoming) placed love above ideals, but love did not place him in front. He said, 'I have someone to take care of,' even though that meant going against everyone and being exiled together with her. Zhang Guoguo (played by Zhang Zhen), caught in a deceitful workplace, made 'winning' his habit. To win, he always responded to challenges and took the initiative. Yet one day, he faced a choice more important than 'winning.' These young people, at the best age, encountered the most brutal tests and carved out a timeless legend of youth.
